Sticky prickling across my face,
down my arms—

I’ve walked into a web as wide
as a house. It smells like sour milk.

I shudder at familiarity.

A huge spider climbs up toward me
from the ground. I feel the poke
of each of its legs on my skin.

Look up to the stars for help.

Look down at my baby,
his fingernails embedded in my arm.
