Before & After

She’d never thought of cradling
a blood clot in her palm,

or after pressing the darkest
center & finding it hard,
unyielding to her fingertip,

trying to see if it was the shape of anything

she’d seen time-lapsed on a doctor’s wall.

~

I cradled blood.
I pressed the dark.
