Before & After
She’d never thought of cradling
a blood clot in her palm,
or after pressing the darkest
center & finding it hard,
unyielding to her fingertip,
trying to see if it was the shape of anything
she’d seen time-lapsed on a doctor’s wall.
I cradled blood.
I pressed the dark.
